St. Joseph's Hill Secondary SchoolSt. Joseph's Hill was founded in 1990 by the Congregation of the Holy Cross as a private secondary school that serves students from low-income families in the surrounding villages. When founded, St. Joseph's was only an O-level secondary school, however within the past decade it became both an O- and A-level secondary school, serving all years with an option for boarding.
Recently, St. Joseph's expanded the girls dormitory in order to accommodate a larger student body and there are plans to do the same for the boys dormitory. Generally in Uganda, boarding is an attractive option, sometimes even for primary schools, because institutions can draw students from such a wide radius. The school is ranked second only to Ave Maria, a more elite private school in the region. Through its administration and curriculum, St. Joseph's strives to embody the five pillars of the Congregation of the Holy Cross, cultivating a student body that is well rounded and founded in faith. |

"Education. It’s the foundation of any society. Without education there cannot be any growth. And without any growth there cannot be any moving forward to better a nation. The Holy Cross Brothers and Sisters who have a presence here in Kyarusozi, Uganda, see that more than anything else, and have made it their mission to improve the opportunities for young people in this nation by improving the education system in whatever ways they can."
